Message to residents from Mike Dixon 8/12/2023:

At our last Reef Board meeting, the Reef Board discussed repairing the ongoing erosion adjacent to the Reef Way tennis court which has exposed the irrigation system and is now about to undermine the tennis court.  I offered to bring my tractor in and repair the erosion and remove some of the Brazilian peppers without charge.  The Board authorized me to proceed.

Last weekend, I repaired the erosion and removed some of the pepper trees. Dave Ebersold assisted and made sure that we didn't run over any tortoise holes. We limited where we drove the tractor to protect the native grasses that are already established in the water retention area and to protect the turtles.  Dave and I both have lived adjacent to the water catchment area for over 19 years and know the location of the tortoise holes. I've been back there twice a day for 19+ years walking my labs.

Now that the dirt work has been done, we will be putting down two pallets of Bahia grass adjacent to the tennis court to ensure the erosion does not continue. The Board is having the debris pile removed.
